Dr. Marta Foresti

Biography

Marta Foresti is the founder and CEO of LAGO, a research and creative collective focused on migration, culture, and the arts. She serves as the Chair of the Global Creative Economy Council and is a Senior Adviser at the Moleskine Foundation. In addition to her role at LAGO, Marta has held prominent positions such as a Senior Visiting Fellow at Birmingham University and previously worked at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London, where she led the institute's migration governance work. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved with senior teams from United Nations agencies and international organizations, advising on various economic development policies for national and local governments. Marta is experienced in facilitating discussions at high-level panels for institutions like the UN and the World Bank, and she has convened the Africa Europe Mayors' Dialogue. With an academic background that includes an MA in Philosophy of Science and Logic from La Statale Milan and an MSc in Research Methods from the London School of Economics and King's College London, she supervises PhD students with research interests in the socio-economic impacts of the creative economy and various aspects of migration and urban development.
