Dr. Marta Futema

Biography

Marta Futema is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University College London in the Institute of Cardiovascular Science. She primarily serves as a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Science at St George's University of London. Marta's research focuses on genetics and bioinformatics, employing functional genomics approaches to understand the causes of inherited cardiovascular diseases. A strong emphasis is placed on the genetic etiology of Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH), which includes studying rare variants and polygenic risk scores. Her work has significantly influenced UK clinical guidelines for FH, specifically the NICE Guidelines.
