Biography

Marta Varela Anjari is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Heart & Lung Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Her research focuses on the application of Physics-Informed Machine Learning techniques and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) digital twins to better understand human physiology and improve clinical treatments. Marta’s work also includes extracting clinical information from cardiac MRI data to aid in the development of machine learning algorithms, with notable examples including techniques for automatically identifying aortic valve disease and quantifying adipose tissue in the heart. Her research aims to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias through innovative technological applications.
