Biography

Martha Matuszak is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan. She received her Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences from the University of Michigan in 2007. Following her doctorate, Dr. Matuszak worked as a Research Associate and Staff Physicist at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. In 2009, she returned to the University of Michigan to join the faculty. Dr. Matuszak leads the Research Dosimetry section, providing routine clinical services while participating in research activities and teaching. Her research interests focus on treatment planning optimization for external beam radiotherapy, with an emphasis on intensity-modulated radiotherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, and stereotactic body radiation therapy. She also works on treatment plan individualization based on physiological factors and imaging, and is involved in radiation oncology medical physics resident education. Dr. Matuszak is engaged with national radiation therapy treatment protocols, including those from the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG).
