Dr. Martha Minow

Biography

Martha Minow holds the 300th Anniversary University Professorship at Harvard University and has been a faculty member at Harvard Law School since 1981, serving as dean from 2009 to 2017. She is an expert in constitutional law and human rights, focusing on issues of exclusion and discrimination, the legal responses to social, political, and religious conflicts, and the implications of new technologies on the law. Her notable publications include 'Saving News: Constitution Calls Government Action Preserve Freedom Speech' (2021) and 'Law Forgive?' (2019). She has published numerous articles, including recent works in prominent journals. Minow is currently writing a book for the University of California Press addressing the foundations of a sustainable constitutional democracy. Additionally, she serves on various boards, including the board of Massachusetts public media and co-chairing the Access Justice Project at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her former roles include service with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, contributing to peaceful development in post-conflict societies. Minow's accolades include multiple lifetime achievement awards and ten honorary degrees from institutions across the globe.
