Biography

Marthe Stevens is an Assistant Professor at the Interdisciplinary Hub Digitalization Society (iHub) affiliated with the Department of Ethics and Political Philosophy at Radboud University. Her research examines the ethical and societal impacts of emerging technological innovations, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare. She draws on Science and Technology Studies, Philosophy of Technology, and Critical Data Studies. In 2024, her research was recognized with the Early Career Award by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In 2025, she received the Jubilee Prize from the Radboud Women Professors Network, honoring excellent female scientists. She has been invited to the 'Uitblinkerslunch' by the King and Queen of the Netherlands for her innovative research. Marthe studied Philosophy and Health Sciences at Erasmus University Rotterdam, completing a graduate program in Science and Technology Studies at the Netherlands Graduate Research School of Science, Technology, and Modern Culture (WTMC). She holds a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam, focusing on how big data and artificial intelligence shape initiatives in healthcare. After her PhD, she began postdoctoral research in the Department of Political Philosophy and Ethics and also works for Radboud University’s iHub. Currently, she leads the ethics team at the Dutch Education Lab (NOLAI) while continuing her research on the role of big tech companies in society and biomedical research.
