Martijn Felder is an assistant professor at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has a background in social science and previously worked as a Junior Researcher in the Cultural Geography Group at Wageningen University. His PhD thesis critically examined policy experimentation and the tensions among various actors in Dutch healthcare governance. Felder's research interests lie at the intersection of social theory, healthcare, and the politics of practice. He is particularly focused on the professionalization, rationalization, and politicization processes within the Dutch healthcare system, employing qualitative research methods such as ethnographies and historical case studies to explore these dynamics. Presently, he is investigating the (re)professionalization of Dutch nursing work, especially related to how different types of nursing roles can strengthen the healthcare workforce and improve service quality. Felder's work also includes exploring evidence-based decision-making in layered healthcare systems and the reflexive politics of action-based research.
