Biography

Martijn Mes is a Full Professor at the University of Twente, specializing in Transportation Logistics Management and part of the Industrial Engineering Business Information Systems faculty. He holds a master's degree in Applied Mathematics obtained in 2002 and completed his Ph.D. in 2008 from the School of Management and Governance at the same university. Following his doctoral studies, he pursued postdoctoral research at Princeton University in the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering. His research focuses on various aspects of freight transportation including synchromodal transport, multi-agent systems, and dynamic vehicle routing problems, among others. Martijn has participated in numerous national and European research projects addressing sustainable logistics and urban transport issues. Additionally, he teaches courses at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels, covering topics such as simulation, queueing theory, and technology management. His expertise includes dynamic programming and simulation models.
