Dr. Martin Antony

Biography

Dr. Antony is a professor and chair of the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University and the director of the Anxiety Research Treatment Lab. He has previously served as the Graduate Program Director and Director of Clinical Training and holds faculty appointments at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. Dr. Antony was the founding director of the Anxiety Treatment Research Clinic and the Psychology Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. He has served as the provincial clinical lead for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program. As a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, Dr. Antony has held leadership roles in various professional societies, including serving as the president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Canadian Psychological Association. His research interests include anxiety disorders, perfectionism, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, and he has authored over 34 books and more than 300 articles on these topics. Dr. Antony has received substantial funding for his research and has been recognized with career awards from numerous psychology associations. He is actively involved in training and supervising students in psychology and psychiatry and has delivered over 500 workshops and presentations worldwide.
