Professor Martin Booth completed his degree in Engineering Science at Hertford College, University of Oxford, from 1993 to 1997. He undertook his doctoral research in adaptive optics and confocal microscopy in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford from 1997 to 2001, during which he was a member of Jesus College. In 2001, he was elected to a Junior Research Fellowship at Christ Church, becoming a Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC Research Fellow in 2003. He received a five-year EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship in 2007 and was concurrently elected to the Hugh Price Fellowship at Jesus College. In 2014, he became a Professor in the Department of Engineering Science and a Senior Research Fellow at Jesus College, while also holding a College Lecturership at Lincoln College. His current research focuses on the development of new dynamic optical methods for applications in biomedical imaging and laser-based manufacturing. In 2023, he was appointed as the Department’s new Statutory Professor of Electrical Engineering, in the Chair of Optical Photonic Engineering at St Hugh’s College.
