Dr. Martin Buijsen

Biography

Martin Buijsen is a full professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam specializing in Health Law and Ethics. He has extensive experience in legal aspects of healthcare and has served on various medical ethical committees including the medical ethical committee of Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam. His research interests include the intersection of law with health policy and the administrative aspects of healthcare delivery. Buijsen has been actively involved in academia, teaching courses on topics like Criminal Health Law, Politics, Policy & Law, and System Healthcare: Legal Aspects at the master's and bachelor levels. He engages in public discourse regarding sensitive health-related legal matters such as euthanasia and abortion, advocating for thoughtful and ethical legislative frameworks. In addition to his academic role, Buijsen has presented at various conferences and has taken part in moral debates related to contemporary issues in healthcare policy.
