Biography

Professor Martin Buss focuses on control system theory and its applications, particularly in hybrid (discrete/continuous), switching, and nonlinear dynamic systems. His research spans various domains including mechatronics, robotics, medical technology, communication technology, telepresence systems, and man-machine systems. He completed his studies in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt and was awarded his doctorate from the University of Tokyo in 1994. In 2000, he achieved his lecturer qualification at TUM and was appointed to the Chair of Control Systems at TU Berlin. Since 2003, he has served as a full professor in control technology at TUM. He became a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2014. His accolades include the Bundesverdienstkreuz Bande in 2011, the Toshio Fukuda Paper Award in 2009, and several others in recognition of his contributions to the field of control engineering and mechatronics.
