Dr. Martin De Jong

Biography

Martin de Jong is the Scientific Director of the Erasmus Initiative 'Dynamics Inclusive Prosperity' at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and a professor at both the Erasmus School of Law (ESL) and the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), where he divides his time equally. He also holds a part-time professorship at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University in Shanghai. With over 25 years of international experience, Martin has focused on research, education, and the intersection of public policy with urban studies and infrastructure development. He has collaborated with numerous organizations, including the Dutch Parliament and various ministries, on topics such as sustainable urban development and corporate social responsibility. His longstanding involvement with leading universities worldwide has helped facilitate knowledge exchange and has enhanced local relevance through global exposure. Martin holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a PhD in Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis from Delft University of Technology. His research spans policy governance, transport infrastructures, and decision-making processes, particularly in the context of China. Martin de Jong is recognized for his contribution to discussions around urban infrastructure and the role of inclusive governance in societal development.
