Dr. Martin Dufwenberg

Biography

Martin Dufwenberg is a Distinguished Professor of Economics at Purdue University. He received his PhD from Uppsala University in 1995 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Gothenburg in 2023. His research primarily utilizes game theory and integrates insights from psychology to enhance economic analysis. His work develops and applies a formal framework known as psychological game theory, which is particularly useful for modeling various social interactions, including host emotions, reciprocity, social norms, and image concerns. Dufwenberg's publications have featured in prominent scientific journals such as Econometrica, the American Economic Review, Neuron, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Economic Theory, the Games and Economic Behavior journal, and the Journal of Economic Literature. Before joining Purdue University, he held positions at various esteemed institutions including Tilburg University, Uppsala University, Stockholm University, the University of Bonn, the University of Arizona, the University of Gothenburg, and Bocconi University in Milan.
