Biography

Martin Everett is a professor at the University of Manchester and co-director of the Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from Loughborough University and an MSc in Mathematics from Oxford University, where he also earned a DPhil in a joint program in Mathematics and Sociology. Since joining Manchester in 2009, he has been pivotal in the evolution of the Mitchell Centre, which is named after Clyde Mitchell, one of the founding figures of the field. He previously held academic positions at East London, Westminster, and Greenwich universities. Everett is a recognized expert in social network analysis and has played a significant role in developing the UCINET software, widely used for analyzing social network data. His research focuses on mathematical and analytical sociology with particular emphasis on social networks, exploring new descriptive methods, community detection, and the analysis of non-standard network data. He has collaborated with various public and private organizations and has been an active member of the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA), where he holds the Simmel Award, the organization's highest accolade. In 2004, he was elected as an academician of the Academy of Social Sciences.
