Biography

Martin Finio is the Associate Dean and Senior Critic at Yale University’s School of Architecture. He co-founded the internationally acclaimed firm Christoff:Finio Architecture in 1999, which has delivered award-winning projects for a variety of clients, including institutions, non-profits, and public agencies. With a base in New York City, the firm stands out for its commitment to innovative design and has garnered prestigious awards such as the American Architecture Awards for notable projects like the Bennington College Commons and Four Points House. Finio has been recognized in the field by being named Architectural Record's Design Vanguard and has received the Emerging Voices award from the Architectural League, as well as the Arts Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His work has been exhibited widely, including at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., the Venice Biennale, and Aedes Gallery in Berlin. Prior to founding his own practice, Finio spent a decade at Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, contributing to projects such as the Cranbrook Natatorium and the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla. He also co-founded the engineering firm Hatfield Group in 2018, and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
