Biography

Martin Glenn is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School and a sworn United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York. Appointed as Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on March 1, 2022, he has served in this capacity since November 30, 2006. Judge Glenn received his B.S. degree from Cornell University in 1968 and his J.D. degree from Rutgers Law School in 1971, where he was also an Articles Editor for the Rutgers Law Review. Prior to his judicial appointment, he practiced law at O'Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles from 1972 to 1985 and in New York from 1985 to 2006. He has held various prestigious positions and memberships, including being a member of the American Law Institute, the International Insolvency Institute, and the New York Federal-State Judicial Council. Judge Glenn is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy-related issues and a contributing author to Collier on Bankruptcy. His course offerings include International Insolvency Law.
