Biography

Martin Greig is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has a rich academic background with a BA in History from University College, University of Toronto, an MA in History from Queen’s University, and a PhD in History from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Since 2003, he has been a permanent faculty member at TMU, where he has taught a diverse range of courses covering early modern Britain, the British Empire, medieval Europe, the Cold War, and the impact of ideas on the world. His research interests primarily focus on the historical periods of England and Scotland between 1660 and 1715. Dr. Greig has made significant contributions to academic literature through numerous articles published in esteemed journals, including Historical Journal and Church History. He is currently engaged in writing a biography of Gilbert Burnet, a 17th-century Scottish-born cleric and author. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Greig serves as the treasurer of the Midwest Conference on British Studies and is an active member of the graduate faculty.
