Martin Aage Barsøe Hedegaard is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark specializing in Physics Technology. With a Ph.D. focusing on multivariate analysis of Raman spectroscopic image datasets, he investigates complex biological systems. His academic journey began with a Master’s degree in Application of Raman dispersion spectroscopy complemented by a solid background in biophotonics, biophysics, optics, and spectroscopy. Hedegaard has contributed significantly through several projects related to miniaturized Raman microscopy and bacterial detection. He has also taken on roles as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at King's College London and a Research Associate at Imperial College London. His research interests encompass Raman Spectroscopy, Chemometrics, and FT-IR Spectroscopy, particularly as they relate to live cell analysis and non-invasive diagnostics in biology. In addition to his teaching, he actively participates in peer review for academic journals.
