Biography

Martin Byung-Guk Jun is a professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He holds a B.A.Sc and M.A.Sc from the University of British Columbia, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests encompass advanced multi-scale manufacturing, ultrafast laser machining processes, and the development of fiber optic sensors for environmental monitoring. He also focuses on spray-based nanoparticle coating in the field of additive manufacturing and machining carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites. His work contributes significantly to the understanding and advancement of fundamental research areas including acoustics and noise control. Jun has received several prestigious awards, including the International Conference Manufacturing Technology Engineers Paper Award in 2016 and the Richard L. Kegg Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in 2011. With numerous publications and active engagement in the manufacturing technology community, he continues to lead innovative research initiatives in mechanical engineering.
