Dr. Martin Mcgann

Biography

Mr. McGann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Science at Pennsylvania State University, where he teaches five core courses in the Landscape Contracting Program. He is also the advisor for the Hort Club and is a licensed landscape architect in Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the university, Mr. McGann worked at the New York Botanical Garden as a landscape architect, which involved extensive restoration and site development projects. His responsibilities included designing new garden display areas at historic sites and researching appropriate horticultural techniques and plant material. He has also worked with a school district in White Plains, New York, where he developed an heirloom plant garden project for fourth-grade classes as part of an Artist Residence Program. His landscape interests focus on period garden restoration and research into heirloom plant material. He played a crucial role in designing and installing the Penn State AT&T Medieval Garden at the University Park Campus, which started in spring 2000.
