Biography

Martin Phillipson joined the Faculty of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1999. Prior to this, he held teaching positions at Osgoode Hall Law School, Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and the Australian National University. He received his LLB from Leicester University in the UK and obtained an LLM from the University of Saskatchewan in 1991. Professor Phillipson's teaching and research interests include intellectual property law, biotechnology law, international environmental law, and property law. He has been the Co-editor Chief of the Journal of Environmental Law & Practice since 2003, a leading peer-reviewed environmental law publication in Canada. Additionally, he frequently comments on agricultural biotechnology issues in the media. Professor Phillipson has been interviewed by various outlets including CBC's National, and Legal Affairs News & World Report, and has served as a consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme and the Australian Federal Government.
