Dr. Martin Servin

Biography

Martin Servin is an Associate Professor at Umeå University, with a research focus on digital physics, particularly in computational modeling and simulation of granular materials and robotics. His academic journey began with his doctoral studies at Umeå University, where he specialized in the interaction of gravity and electromagnetic radiation with plasma, culminating in a dissertation under the guidance of Professors Lennart Stenflo and Gert Bodin. In 2003, he engaged with the VRlab at Umeå University, leading to the establishment of Algoryx Simulations, a company centered on simulation technologies for robotics. He currently heads a research group at the UMIT Research Lab, focusing on projects that integrate physics-informed simulations to enhance AI-controlled machinery, emphasizing safety and efficiency in various applications such as automated forestry and heavy machinery operations. His work aims to create virtual environments that mimic real-world physics, which is crucial for developing and testing robotic systems in realistic scenarios.
