Biography

After obtaining my degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Montreal, I completed a master's degree in Bioinformatics focusing on the study of regulatory sequences in protozoan parasite genomes. I then pursued a doctorate at the University of Queensland in Australia, where my work involved using bioinformatics and comparative genomics tools to detect conserved secondary RNA structures in the human genome during evolution, facilitating the characterization of long non-coding RNAs. My postdoctoral training continued at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, where I developed algorithms and data processing pipelines for transcriptomic analysis using various high-throughput RNA sequencing technologies. I discovered nanopore sequencing and concentrated my research on this technology as the director of the genomics technologies program at the Kinghorn Centre for Clinical Genomics at Garvan Institute in 2017.
