Martin Viklund is a Professor at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in Biophysics. He leads a research group focusing on ultrasound applied to lab-on-a-chip devices, a field known as Acoustofluidics. His research interests include manipulating particles and biological cells through ultrasound manipulation techniques such as acoustophoresis and acoustic trapping. This work has significant implications for 3D cell culture and micro-tissue/micro-tumor engineering. Martin completed his undergraduate studies in Engineering Physics at Lund Institute of Technology between 1993 and 1998, focusing on Biomedical Optics. He then pursued postgraduate studies at the Royal Institute of Technology in Physics from 1999 to 2004, with a specialization in ultrasound-enhanced immunoassays. Following this, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering in Berlin from 2004 to 2005, where he worked on dielectrophoresis for cell handling. As of 2024, he serves as the Head of the Biophysics Division at KTH.
Master's programs are organized under Schools; departments listed are units within these schools (e.g., EECS, ABE, CBH, ITM, SCI).
