Biography

Studied business administration at WWU Münster, graduating in 1992; earned his doctorate from the University of Augsburg with a dissertation on return anomalies in stock markets in 1997; completed habilitation at the University of Augsburg focusing on option prices and implicit price processes in 2002. Since October 2002, he has held the position of Professor of Financial Management Accounting at the University of Fribourg. In 2009, he was appointed to a W3 professorship in Corporate Finance at FU Berlin. He has also participated in research stays as a Visiting Professor at the University of Dayton, Ohio, and Université Laval, Québec. Within the university, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences from 2017 to 2020, and held several prominent roles including President of the Local Research Commission SNSF, Examination Delegate Vice-Dean, and Treasurer of the Faculty. He has taught in executive programs such as the Executive MBA at the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich. His awards include the University Prize from the University of Augsburg in 1997 and the Science Prize from Bayerische Landesbank in 2003. He’s recognized for his contributions to empirical capital market research, asset management derivatives, structured financial products, risk assessment, investment behavior, and firm valuation.
