Professor Martin Wooster is an expert in satellite Earth observation with a focus on quantifying the effects of biomass burning and landscape fires on the environment. He was appointed as a Professor of Earth Observation Science at King's College London in 2005, having joined the Department of Geography in 1998 after receiving funding from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) under an Earth Observation Science Initiative, one of only four lectureships awarded nationally in the UK. His academic qualifications include a BSc in Physics from the University of Bristol, an MSc in Remote Sensing from the University of London, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the Open University, concentrating on exploring the ATSR instrument for monitoring active volcanoes.
