Biography

Martina Böhm is a professor specializing in Biblical Exegesis and Early Jewish Religious History at the University of Hamburg. Born in 1965 in Mecklenburg, she studied Protestant Theology in Leipzig, Munich, and Heidelberg. She completed her First Theological Exam in Leipzig followed by a vicariate and a Second Theological Exam in Dresden. She began her academic career as a research assistant and lecturer in New Testament studies at the University of Leipzig, where she obtained her doctorate in 1997 and habilitation in 2004. After a brief period as a pastor in the Leipzig region and engaging in teaching roles in Mainz and Berlin, she became a professor at Hamburg in 2009. Her research interests include the Gospel of Luke, the Gospel of Matthew, Samaritan studies, Philo of Alexandria, scriptural reception, and hermeneutics and exegesis in early Judaism. Böhm is actively involved in several academic societies and committees related to theology and biblical studies.
