Biography

Martina Stenzel is a Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) within the School of Chemistry. Her research focuses on complex polymer architectures including the synthesis of star polymers, comb polymers, and block copolymers using reversible addition fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization. She also investigates glycopolymers and their interactions with lectins, as well as the synthesis of nanoparticles for drug delivery purposes. Her work includes the development of drug delivery systems for platinum-based drugs and metal-based drugs, as well as non-metal anti-cancer drugs. In addition to her research, Stenzel has served on various Editorial Advisory Committees and as Editor-in-Chief for the RSC journal Materials Horizons. She has been involved in major professional societies and has held leadership roles in the Australian Academy of Science and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Furthermore, she has received numerous prestigious awards for her contributions to chemistry, including the IUPAC Distinguished Women in Chemistry award and being named a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
