Biography

Marty Curry is an Affiliate Instructor in Urban Design Planning with over 25 years of professional planning experience. He has engaged with diverse neighborhoods and community organizations, facilitating planning processes that empower communities to find their voice in shaping their future. Since 2004, he has taught in the Community, Environment Planning undergraduate program, where he focuses on the intersection of community and environmental planning, allowing students to partner with Seattle neighborhoods. He also teaches in the Master of Infrastructure Planning and Management program, introducing students to key concepts in infrastructure planning and guiding them through capstone projects. His teaching in sustainability courses reflects his ongoing research into climate change and the application of systems theory to major infrastructure projects. Marty has worked extensively on policy analysis as a former director of the City of Seattle Planning Commission and has authored several reports on planning policies. He has been an active member of the American Planning Association since 1976.
