Biography

Martyn Fice is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College London, specializing in photonics communications. With 30 years of experience in both industry and academia, he has published over 140 journal and conference papers. As a member of the Ultrafast Photonics research group, his current research interests include THz communications, photonic integration, fibre free-space optical communications, and the convergence of optical wireless communications. Dr. Fice serves as the Deputy Director of the UKRI-EPSRC National Dark Fibre Facility and is the head of the Space Theme for Satellite Communications at the UCL Space Domain. He joined University College London as a Senior Research Fellow in 2005 and has previously worked for Nortel Networks in their research and development labs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he focused on the application of electron-beam lithography for fabricating Bragg gratings and semiconductor lasers.
