Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maru Pabón received a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Yale University with a certificate in Middle East Studies. She is co-editor of the volume 'Art and Politics in the Arab World and Latin America' (Brill, 2025). Her research has appeared in publications such as 'Comparative Literature Studies', 'Middle Eastern Literatures', and 'Kohl: Journal of Body and Gender Research'. Additionally, Pabón has contributed essays and translations to various venues, including 'Bidoun', 'Momus', and 'Bidayat', and serves as the Book Review Editor for the International Journal of Middle East Studies (IJMES).
