Biography

Mary Labrecque is an Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan. She has a rich background in nursing, having registered as a nurse in 1986 and completed her PhD in 2008 at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2010, she finished an advanced practice Nurse Practitioner program at Athabasca University. Her professional nursing experience spans acute care, addiction treatment, community public health, and occupational health in diverse settings such as urban, rural, and northern arctic communities. She joined the College of Nursing in a contract position in 1997 and has since taken on various roles, including teaching health assessment and community nursing to undergraduate and post-degree Post RN Programs. Currently, she supervises students in the Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner and PhD programs. Labrecque has held several leadership positions, including Director of the Nurse Practitioner program and Associate Dean for Prince Albert Northern Campuses. Her research interests focus on rural and remote nursing practice and the delivery of primary health care, highlighting the determinants of health in these populations.
