Mary Anne Limbach is an observational astronomer specializing in the study of planetary systems and stars. Her research group concentrates on the detection of exomoons and exosatellites as well as the direct detection and characterization of cold exoplanets. The ultimate goal of her research is to gain insights into the prevalence, diversity, evolution, and potential habitability of extrasolar worlds. To achieve her research objectives, she primarily employs space-based observatories, which have included the Spitzer Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), with future plans involving the Roman Space Telescope and the Habitable Worlds Observatory. In addition, she is involved in developing new instrumentation to fulfill research aims that cannot be addressed with existing facilities. Limbach has served as an optical engineer and/or instrument scientist for major exoplanet instruments, including Subaru/CHARIS and GPI2.0 IFS.
