Biography

Mary Elizabeth (“M.E.”) Luka is an Associate Professor of Arts, Media & Culture Management and Interim Program Director of Arts Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), with a cross-appointment in the Faculty of Information. She is an award-winning scholar and activist, specializing in digital media production, arts, social enterprises, broadcasting, and creative management policy. Her research focuses on the modes and meanings of creativity and innovation in the digital age, particularly examining the co-creative collaborative production and distribution in the intersecting fields of media, arts, and culture. Professor Luka draws on creative cultural studies, arts and media management theory, digital humanities, and feminist science and technology studies to inform her work. She has consulted for over 100 cultural organizations and has served in various significant roles such as Past Chair of the Board of Arts Nova Scotia and a member of the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council, reflecting her extensive engagement with the cultural sector.
