Biography

Mary Malone is the Vice Dean (Education) and a Professor at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care, King's College London. Her role focuses on ensuring the education provision develops excellent, caring nurses and midwives, delivering evidence-based, research-driven care. Between 2018-2021, she served as Director of the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery at Oxford Brookes University, a partnership with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Here, she established 'Director Rounds' to connect with students and worked closely with NHS Trusts to enhance collaboration, refresh curricula, and improve student access, equality, diversity, and inclusion. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for the COV-ed Nurse study, investigating how nurse education prepared nurses for their roles during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Institute of Health Visiting, involving her in research related to parenting support for vulnerable families, funded by Public Health England. Mary is also known for her significant contributions to health service research from 1977-2015 as a Research Fellow at the National Nursing Research Unit.
