Graduating from Keble College with a BA in Theology in 2004, Mary pursued an MSt and DPhil under the supervision of Professor Christopher Tuckett, focusing her research on the portrayals of the Pharisees in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. After completing her PGCE in secondary education, Mary worked as a Religious Studies teacher before returning to the university as a Departmental Lecturer in New Testament Studies within the Faculty of Theology and Religion from 2012 to 2016. She also served as a Fellow and Tutor in Theology at St Benet’s Hall from 2012 to 2022. Since 2016, Mary has held the position of Director of Undergraduate Studies and Outreach at Worcester College. Her research interests encompass the New Testament, particularly the Gospels and Acts, the context of the New Testament in first-century Judaism, the portrayal of Jews and Judaism in New Testament texts, and the relationship between Judaism and early Christianity, employing “redaction-critical” approaches to interpret the New Testament and ancient Jewish texts.
