Biography

Mary Napoli is an Associate Professor with a focus on Reading Children's Literature. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in Language Literacy education and a minor in women's studies from Pennsylvania State University. Mary has published numerous books, articles, and professional resource materials on children's literature. As a former kindergarten and first-grade teacher, she brings a wealth of practical classroom experience and extensive knowledge of children's literature and literacy resources to her undergraduate and graduate teaching. Mary served as a co-editor for the Journal of Children's Literature and contributed to national-level book award committees for various organizations, including the International Literacy Association and the National Council of Teachers of English. Her research interests are centered around children's and adolescent literature, global and international children's literature, transactional theory, reader response, and interdisciplinary instruction.
