Dr. Mary O Brien

Biography

Mary O'Brien is a Director of Clinical Training and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Yale University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, obtained in 1992. Her research interests primarily focus on developing therapeutic approaches that enhance functioning and protective factors, such as coping mechanisms and supportive family environments, particularly in youth at high risk for clinical psychosis. Additionally, O'Brien is involved in teaching graduate students how to conduct effective, evidence-based assessments and treatments for a variety of patient populations. Her commitment to the field is reflected in her active engagement in both research and teaching, aiming to equip the next generation of psychologists with the necessary skills to address mental health challenges.
