Biography

Mary Rodena-Krasan is a Lecturer IV and Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She earned her Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Her research interests encompass postcolonialism, Afro-Futurism, and the German colonial imagination as seen through the lens of science fiction and fantasy. Throughout her career, she has been recognized with several awards including the 5X5 Collaboratory Award (2024), the Institute for Humanities Fellowship (2023), and the Lecturer of the Year award (2016). Mary has been involved with various innovations in teaching, including receiving the NINI grant for new initiatives in 2015, and has earned an ITC Level II award in 2014.
