Biography

Maryam Firoozi is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University. She holds a PhD in Business Administration, specializing in Accountancy from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. Prior to joining Sprott, she served as an Assistant Professor at both Concordia University and Lawrence Technological University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of corporate governance mechanisms, corporate disclosure, and information technology. Currently, her research primarily focuses on the impact of digitalization on corporate governance and corporate disclosure. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed business journals including the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, British Journal of Management, Corporate Governance: International Review, and Journal of Information Systems. She has received funding for her research from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development grant and CPA Canada-CAAA research grant. Moreover, she has presented her research at various international conferences such as the American Accounting Association Annual Conference and the Canadian Academic Accounting Association Annual Conference.
