Professor Dr. Marylyn Ritchie

Biography

Marylyn D Ritchie is an Adjunct Professor in the Genetics Department at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research expertise spans several areas including Computational Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Statistical Genetics. She has a strong focus on Epistasis, Pharmacogenomics, and the analysis of Big Data in the context of genetic research. Ritchie has contributed significantly to the field of Genetic Epidemiology and Systems Genomics. Her work often integrates approaches from Computational Biology and Translational Informatics to address complex health issues, particularly Cardiovascular Disease. Ritchie obtained her BS in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1999, followed by an MS in Applied Statistics from Vanderbilt University in 2002, and a PhD in Statistical Genetics from Vanderbilt University in 2004. She is actively involved in leading research initiatives aimed at advancing our understanding of genetic factors influencing health and disease.
