Maryse Lassonde is a professor emerita in the Department of Psychology at the University of Montreal, specializing in child neuropsychology. Her research focuses on brain reorganization following congenital anomalies and neurosurgeries performed for therapeutic purposes in epileptic children. She has also explored the cognitive effects of childhood epilepsy. Recently, her involvement in the clinical assessment of the effects of concussions in National Hockey League players has led to the development of a research program on the electrophysiological implications of mild concussions in athletes, in collaboration with researchers from McGill University. As the scientific director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies for six years, she has enhanced its programs and promoted research activities while initiating numerous international partnerships. Additionally, she has launched several initiatives to increase the presence of women in science and engineering in colleges, universities, and the private sector. A member of the Royal Society of Canada since 1997, Lassonde received the Acfas Marcel-Vincent award in 1998 and was made a knight of the National Order of Quebec the following year, later promoted to officer status in 2012.
