Biography

Masahiro Kotosaka is an expert in internationalization strategy and early-stage business development, as well as an advisor for global start-up and multinational companies. Before joining Keio University as a Professor, he served as an Associate Professor of Multinational Management at Ritsumeikan University and was a teaching and research associate at the University of Oxford. He also worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company in Frankfurt and Tokyo. With a rich background in strategy and marketing projects, he has collaborated with sixteen client organizations across nine industries and countries, and spent four years running profitable IT and retail businesses before joining McKinsey. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a D.Phil. (PhD) in Management Studies and an MSc in Management Research with Distinction. His current research concentrates on how high-growth startups formulate and execute strategic actions and how institutional fields influence the way entrepreneurs incubate their businesses.
