Biography

Masanobu Komatsu is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Principal Investigator at the Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute, Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital. His research focuses on understanding vascular abnormalities associated with medical conditions such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Komatsu's academic background includes a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of Miami after earning his undergraduate degree in marine science/biology. His post-doctoral work in immunology has led to significant contributions in the fields of vascular targeting technologies and molecular mechanisms regarding blood vessel function. With a particular interest in intratumoral high endothelial venules and their role in developing tertiary lymphoid structures, he investigates how these structures affect anti-tumor immunity. His work aims at creating innovative drug delivery systems that target specific vascular sites, thereby improving treatment efficacy for pulmonary arterial hypertension and cancer.
