Dr. Masarah Paquet Clouston

Biography

Masarah Paquet-Clouston is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at the Université de Montréal. Her research interests span the fields of economic crime, information technology, and cybersecurity. With a strong background in understanding online markets and the dynamics of financial crimes, Masarah leads several significant research projects. These projects include examining the role of shell companies in facilitating financial crimes and exploring the intersections between decentralized finance and regulatory illicitness. She is actively involved in the international comparative criminology field, collaborating with research units such as Stratosphere Laboratory and GoSecure. Masarah also supervises graduate students in their theses and engages in academic partnerships aimed at enhancing law enforcement capabilities through human-centric cybersecurity. She has received funding from various sources, including the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Throughout her academic career, Masarah has contributed to broadening the understanding of crime in the digital age with a focus on societal impacts and technological advancements.
