Biography

Masoud Babaie received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree (cum laude) from Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherlands, in 2016. He joined the Kavoshcom Research Development Group in Tehran in 2006, focusing on designing wireless communication systems, and was appointed as CTO of the company from 2009 to 2011. He consulted for the RF group at TSMC in Hsinchu, Taiwan, from 2013 to 2015, working on the design of 28-nm All-Digital PLL Bluetooth Low Energy transceiver chips. He was a Visiting Scholar Researcher at the Berkeley Wireless Research Center, Berkeley, CA, USA, from 2014 to 2015, under Professor Niknejad. In 2016, he joined Delft University of Technology as an Associate Professor in the microelectronics department. Dr. Babaie has co-authored a book, several book chapters, holds 11 patents, and has 70 technical publications. His current research interests include analog RF/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, wireless communications, cryogenic electronics, and quantum computation. He has received several awards, including the 2015–2016 IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Pre-Doctoral Achievement Award, 2019 IEEE ISSCC Demonstration Session Certificate Recognition, 2020 IEEE ISSCC Jan Van Vessem Award for Outstanding European Paper, and the 2022 IEEE CICC Paper Award. He was the recipient of the Veni Award from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) in 2019. He serves as Co-Chair of the Emerging Computing Devices and Circuits Subcommittee of the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) and on the Technical Program Committee of the IEEE European Solid-State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC).
