Biography

Massimiliano Guasoni received his doctorate in 2011 from the University of Brescia, Italy. He was appointed as a research associate at the University of Bourgogne, France from 2012 to 2015. He then joined the Australian National University in 2016, under the Erasmus Mundus Fellowship. Since 2016, he has been with the University of Southampton, where he currently serves as a Principal Research Fellow and Associate Professor. His research focuses on the complex dynamics of multimode waveguides for applications in novel optical amplifiers and photonic integrated circuits, particularly within the Multimode Photonics Group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre. He has led several significant research projects, including an EPSRC-funded investigation into self-organization of light in multicore optical fibres. Guasoni has been awarded prominent accolades, including the Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship in 2016 and an ERC Starting Grant in 2018 for the MODES project.
