Massimiliano obtained his PhD in 2015 from University College London (UCL), collaborating with the UK company Advanced Plasma Power (APP) in the development of innovative Waste-to-Fuel solutions. With a decade of experience in the Waste-to-Energy industry, he held roles as a Process Engineer and R&D Director before joining the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL as an independent Senior Research Fellow in 2016. He transitioned to full-time teaching in 2015 and has been co-leading the UCL Fluidization Research Group, one of the oldest and most renowned in the UK, while establishing a new research strand focused on Bioenergy and Biofuels. In 2018, he was awarded a prestigious 5-year Royal Academy Engineering Research Fellowship to advance research in biofuels. Massimiliano is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) as well as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
