Biography

Massimo Baioni is a member of the Department of Historical Studies at the State University of Milan since 2018. He taught Contemporary History at the University of Siena from 1996 until April 2018. He obtained the national qualification for full professor in December 2013. Baioni has been a visiting professor at the University of Paris 8 École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris-Sorbonne) and has been part of the Executive Doctorate in Humanities studies at the University of Urbino since 2001. Additionally, he has served on the Editorial Board of the journal 'Memoria e Ricerca' and is a member of the scientific committee for the review 'Laboratoire italien'. In 2015, he became the director of the book series on contemporary history titled 'The Reasons Clio' published by Pacini in Pisa. His research interests include nation-building and the nationalization of masses during the 19th and 20th centuries, the politics of memory and the public use of history, as well as the representation of urban spaces, museums, and political myths in contemporary society.
